Banking And Finance (Including Foundation Year) – BSc (Hons)

Why study this course?

The Banking and Finance (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) degree acts as a springboard to enter the banking and finance industry if you find yourself without the entry requirements or necessary qualifications to start a standard undergraduate degree.

On this four-year course with a foundation year (Year 0) you will begin by developing key academic and business skills during your foundation year before going on to examine the development, significance and challenges of banking and finance in the modern world during your subsequent years of study.

More about this course

The course’s integrated foundation year will ensure you’re well-equipped as you enter Year 1 of the degree. You will examine the basic principles of banking, finance and economics, as well as other key business functions such as marketing, operations and human resource management. Following your foundation year, you will go on to study the same course content and modules as those on our Banking and Finance BSc (Hons) degree.

The course is designed with input from finance industry experts and draws on accounting, economics, investment theory, law and management to help you develop the skills you’ll need to begin a career in banking or the financial services.

This banking and finance course shares its foundation year with a number of our other foundation year degrees, allowing you to work with students interested in other business-related subjects and share ideas.

If, following your foundation year, you decide that you’d like to specialise in an alternative business-related subject, we will give you the flexibility to allow this.

You’ll graduate with a full undergraduate degree with the same title and award as those who studied the traditional three-year course.
